The United States Department of Agriculture's Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices have updated their guidance for the Market Facilitation Programs (MFP).
FSA has further clarified ownership dates for inventory numbers.
MFP Pig Ownership
Number of live animals in ownership. Producers may select any date from July 15, 2018 through August 15, 2018 as the date for which ownership is reported.
Hogs must be produced for commercial marketing.
Note: Producers who previously filed applications will have an opportunity to revise the number of live hogs owned if August 1 is not indicative of the usual number of hogs in the operation.
The application period remains open until January 15, 2019.
Pork producers have the option to apply:
- In person at your local USDA service center
- By mail (must be postmarked January 15, 2019)
- Electronically: Faxed, scanned or emailed; but the farm must first have a level two USDA e-Authentication account.
Program details and eligibility requirements may be found at: farmers.gov/MFP.
Payment rates are based on 50% of actual production.
If you are part of a group of farmers that own a sow farm together, the sow farm may apply, but keep in mind that your "share" of the sow farm payment will apply to your limit of $125,000 in compensation.
If you have questions, contact your local FSA office.
